Ratan Tata Receives 2021 Humanitarian Award

The Founder of KIIT and KISS, Achyuta Samanta, personally presented the award to Tata. Highlighting the significance of the ceremony, it was noted that Tata has recently limited his public appearances due to health concerns, making the home-held event a notable exception. Ratan Tata's acceptance of the award, after a direct request from Samanta, underscores the deep respect he holds for the KISS humanitarian accolade.

In expressing his gratitude, Tata remarked, "I am extremely happy to receive this honour. This is the most significant moment of my life." Samanta, reflecting on the occasion, praised Tata's virtuous character and the impact of his work, "Ratan Tata is a revered name in India, and he is truly a good person. Being able to honour him today with this award is a privilege for us."

The KISS Humanitarian Award, established in 2008 by Achyuta Samanta, aims to celebrate the efforts of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to humanitarian efforts globally. The award has been previously bestowed upon a variety of influential figures and leaders, including Nobel laureates, underlining its prestigious standing and international acclaim.

During the award ceremony, Samanta shared a personal anecdote, revealing his longstanding admiration for Tata, stemming from his childhood when his father worked for the Tata Company. The tragic loss of his father in a train accident when Samanta was just four years old, has not diminished his respect and fondness for Ratan Tata over the years. The ceremony concluded with a collective wish from around 40,000 KISS students for Ratan Tata's health and longevity.

The awarding of the KISS Humanitarian Award 2021 to Ratan Tata not only celebrates his exceptional contributions to society and business but also serves as an inspiration for future generations to pursue a path of compassion and leadership. It stands as a significant moment, highlighting the impact of humanitarian efforts in the corporate world and beyond.
