Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test Scrapped: Rajasthan Govt

The government of Rajasthan has dismissed the Rajasthan pre engineering test (RPET) for admissions to engineering colleges in the state.

The state government has constituted a centralized admission committee (CAC), consisting experts from the field of technical education, to oversee the admissions for the 2015-16 session.

Under the new system, 50 per cent seats of the state's engineering colleges will be filled through joint entrance examination (JEE) merit list.

The remaining will be filed on the basis of the class XII merit list, technical education minister Kalicharan Saraf said.

He said that of the total seats, 15 per cent seats would be allotted under the management quota and as many will be reserved for students from outside the state. Remaining 70 per cent will be for students from the state.

The new model of admissions to private and government colleges is better than the earlier model and will save time, he added.
