The new state sports policy, 2023, was unveiled by Punjab's minister of sports Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer. It aims to encourage participation in sports, offer financial incentives, and improve the state's sporting facilities. The proposal calls for the building of 1,000 sports nurseries as well as the provision of 500 jobs for top medal winners. These actions are a component of the government's initiatives to promote sports and aid athletes in Punjab.
Athletes' Training And Opportunities
In a statement to the media, Minister Hayer said that a budget of Rs 250 crore would be set aside for the construction of 1,000 sports nurseries. These nurseries will provide athletes with improved coaching, cutting-edge sporting goods, and essential snacks to improve their preparation and performance.

In addition, 500 medal winners will receive job offers in a particular cadre under the new sports policy. There are 40 deputy directors, 92 senior coaches, 138 coaches, and 230 junior coaches among the positions available. This action attempts to give athletes who have achieved success in their particular sports permanent career prospects.
