N Rangasamy, the chief minister of Puducherry, announced on Friday that during the current academic year, the territory administration would reimburse the whole tuition costs owed by students from government schools enrolling in undergraduate medical programs in the Union Territory.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister stated that NEET-qualified students who completed their secondary education in government-run schools are eligible for the program.
Under a 10% quota of horizontal reservation, students from government schools would be accepted to undergraduate medical programs here.
He also stated that his government would advise the universities to refrain from demanding payment of the tuition costs because they would be covered by the administration. Earlier this month, the Centre had approved the Puducherry government's proposal to implement the quota.
