The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 examinations will begin from tomorrow i.e., 25th March, 2014. 392 examination centres will have around 56,000 students taking their exams. To avoid copying and other malpractices, 36 flying squads, District Education Officers (DEOs) and deputy DEOs will keep a vigil on these examinations centres. However, this will be done only for English, Mathematics and Science exams.
Deputy DEO, Gurjot Singh said, "As the Class 10 examinations will start at 10am, we will inform observers about their duty at 8am on the day of exam. If we inform them in advance, there are more chances of them being lured to facilitate copying. All teachers on observer duty will be deputed at an examination centre within 5-7 km so that they can reach the centre on time."
Results of Classes 4 to 9 and Class 11 must be announced on 26th March, as against the date which was decided earlier as 31st March, 2014, as per Punjab education Secretary, Anjali Bawr.
When the Deputy DEO was questioned if the teachers will be able to declare the results on time, as many teachers are on examinations and election duty, he replied that the answer sheers were being checked by the teachers, and as per the feedback received from schools, the results would be available by 25th March, 2014 for all the classes.
On 26th March, 2014, the schools would organise parent-teacher meetings, and to make sure that the results was announced on time, DEOs, Deputy DEOs and a team from the Director General School Education (DGSE) head office would be making their presence known to the schools, he added.
"We received directions on March 22 that results of Classes 4 to 9 and 11 have to be declared on March 26. The authorities should have declared these directions one month ago, as we have already planned everything and now it is difficult to inform the students about declaration of result on an earlier date." said a Principal from a government school.
