Prisoners in Madurai Ace the Class 12 Tamil Nadu

Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and provide individuals with opportunities for growth and empowerment, regardless of their circumstances. The aforesaid statement has been very rightly proved by the prisoners of Madurai, who appeared in the Tamil Nadu Class 12 examination. A total of 15 prisoners are under surveillance in Madurai Central Jail, and have set a record by passing the examination with a cent percent result. These candidates scored a perfect score on the examination.

Arogya Jaya Prabhakaran, a prisoner, has obtained the top rank with 536 scores, followed by Alex Pandian in second place with 532 scores and Arunkumar in third place with 506 marks.
All 15 of the prisoners passed, and the guards and other prisoners commended the passers on their 100% pass percentage.

The TN +2 exams for the year were conducted from March 1 to March 22. More than eight lakh students took examinations this year, which is a minor decrease in enrollment from years prior. This decline is a continuation of a pattern that has been seen for a few years. There were 8,42,512 applicants in 2019. This number slightly decreased to 7,79,931 in 2020, 8,16,473 in 2021, and 8,06,277 in 2022. There was a further decline in the number of participants in the most recent tests, with 8,03,385 in 2023.

Madurai Central Jail is home to almost 1400 convicts and undertrial inmates serving their prison sentences. In this instance, special arrangements have been made by the jail administration to allow the detainees to follow their academic interests. Additionally, specific arrangements have been established for the inmates' education in this facility, from eighth grade to college courses. Teachers will occasionally give them particular classes that they need. As a result, a large number of prisoners take public examinations while incarcerated each year. The prison administration and the school education department are making arrangements for this.
