Prayoga And Merck Collaborate To Transform Science Education In Karnataka's Government Schools

Prayoga Institute of Education Research has joined forces with the science and technology firm Merck, aiming to enhance science education in Karnataka's government schools. This collaboration will bring the Kriya initiative to an additional 45 schools across 35 districts, including Chamarajanagar, Dharwad, Bidar, Gadag, and Mandya. Kriya, previously reaching over 7,000 students in 66 schools, focuses on practical science learning for grades 6 to 10. The initiative is especially beneficial for communities where such educational opportunities are scarce.

Prayoga And Merck Enhance Science Education In Karnataka

The partnership is set to revolutionize science education by providing experiential learning programs. This approach encourages active participation and a hands-on learning experience, deepening students' understanding of scientific concepts. The goal is to make quality science education accessible to students, particularly those in rural areas and government schools. With the support of Merck, Prayoga Institute aims to expand the reach of its Kriya initiative, fostering an environment where learning science through direct experience becomes the norm.

Enhancing Science Education in Rural Schools

The 45 selected rural government schools are now equipped with comprehensive lab stations. These stations contain materials and equipment aligned with the academic syllabus, ensuring students have everything they need for practical experiments. This initiative not only aims to provide an immersive educational experience but also to instill a deeper understanding and appreciation of science in students. By making these resources available, Prayoga and Merck are addressing the gap in science education in underserved areas.

Safety in these hands-on learning environments is a priority. Each lab station comes with detailed safety and user manuals. These guides support both students and teachers in conducting experiments responsibly, ensuring a safe and enriching educational experience. By equipping schools with the necessary resources and knowledge, the initiative is setting a new standard for science education in government schools.

Transforming Science Education Through Collaboration

Vallish Herur, Managing Trustee at Prayoga, highlighted the transformative potential of the Kriya initiative. He remarked, "The Kriya initiative represents a paradigm shift in learning, making quality science education accessible to all students, especially those from rural and government schools." He further expressed gratitude towards Merck for their support, emphasizing that their collaboration will enhance the quality and accessibility of science education, enabling students to learn through experience.

Herur's vision for Kriya is to change the traditional approach to science education in schools, making it more interactive and engaging for students. This initiative not only benefits students by providing them with a more comprehensive understanding of scientific principles but also prepares them for future challenges in the field of science and technology.

In conclusion, the partnership between Prayoga Institute of Education Research and Merck signifies a significant step forward in improving science education in Karnataka's government schools. By expanding the Kriya initiative to more schools and enriching the learning environment with practical resources, this collaboration aims to make quality science education accessible to every student. This initiative represents a commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators by providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
