Paint Our Earth Green: Students of Mumbai

By Anusha

A message for a healthy planet was spread across using their imagination through paintings by students from 35 schools in Mumbai. More than 150 students took part in Paint Our Earth Green and made posters based on themes like conservation of energy, conservation of water, renewable energy usage, conservation of biodiversity and how to protect the environment.

Paint Our Earth Green was the first Mumbai publication of the competition conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The competition was held at the Udyanchal Primary School in Vikhroli. Students from class 4 to 8 sketched their ideas as a perfect answer to preserve nature on Sunday. A student of class 7 said, "We know we need to save the environment but we never follow it ourselves. I think water is the most important resourceso I used it as the theme for my poster."

Executive director of CII, S Raghupathy said, "These contests are a build-up to our bigger plans of creating over 500 green schools in the country. The schools, staff and students will be trained to make their schools a healthier space."
