400 DU final year students fail Sociology exam

Sociology in Contemporary India, is an interdisciplinary subject for honours' students in these colleges.

A group of students today staged a protest at the Dean of Students' Welfare's office alleging discrepancies in result and seeking his intervention in the issue.

"I have taken note of their request and the matter will be taken up with DU's examination branch soon," Dean of Students' Welfare J M Khurana said.

The students, all of them being final-year students, are under panic as the failure in the subject, can hamper their further study plans.

A Shivaji college student, who has topped the class in other subjects and has managed to score barely 15 in Sociology said, "I have already secured admission at a foreign university. My aggregate percentage is excellent too but I might miss out on the chance if the result is not rectified."

The students who approached the respective authorities in their college, were asked to apply for re-evaluation.

"This isn't a problem pertaining to re-evaluation which basically involves re-calculation of awarded marks.

How can all the students fail, there is some discrepancy for sure," said another student.

Delhi University's examination head Satish Kumar, when contacted, said the varsity was looking into the matter and the error, if any, will be rectified soon.
