1.8 lakh candidates registered for BITSAT 2014

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, is all set to conduct Birla Institute of Technology & Science Admission Test (BITSAT 2014) online test would be held from 14th May to 01st June 2014.

Over 1.8 lakh candidates have been registered for BITSAT 2014 entrance exam.

This year, BITSAT completes its 10 years of presence for conducting the examination.

BITSAT is conducted for admission to integrated programmes for BITS in Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad campuses and also for NIIT University.

It was recorded that 1.6 candidates have registered in 2013. There will be a 2,200 seats from all the three campuses for admission integrated programmes through BITSAT.

When it was introduced in 2005, only 50,000 candidates registered for it. This year, it has increased to 1.8 lakh candidates.

Earlier, the exam was conducted on pen paper format, now it has been moved to computer based online examination.

BITSAT was first conducted in 2005. This was following the government's instruction that all deemed universities should follow an exam proposed to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, with the exception of the IITs in 2004.
