The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 has been postponed following concerns raised by candidates regarding a clash with another major recruitment examination. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has officially rescheduled the examination from June 28, 2026, to July 5, 2026, providing relief to thousands of aspirants who intended to appear for multiple competitive examinations.

OTET 2026 Postponed to July 5 After Candidates Raise Concerns Over Exam Date Clash
The decision was taken after candidates pointed out that the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) had also scheduled a recruitment examination for various posts on June 28. Many aspirants expressed concern that the overlapping dates would prevent them from appearing in both examinations.
Taking these representations into consideration, the BSE reviewed the situation and announced a revised examination schedule. Officials stated that the change aims to ensure that candidates are not disadvantaged due to the scheduling conflict.
According to the revised timetable, Paper I of OTET 2026 will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, while Paper II will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on July 5, 2026.
The date clash occurred after the OSSSC examination, originally scheduled for June 20, was postponed to June 28 due to administrative reasons. This unexpected change led to overlapping examination dates, prompting widespread requests from candidates for a revision of the OTET schedule.
OTET is one of the most important eligibility examinations for aspiring teachers in Odisha. Qualifying the examination is mandatory for candidates seeking teaching positions in primary and upper primary schools across the state. The examination is conducted in two papers, with Paper I intended for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V and Paper II for those seeking eligibility to teach Classes VI to VIII.
Candidates are advised to take note of the revised examination date and continue their preparations accordingly. The Board is expected to issue updated notifications and examination-related instructions through its official website. Aspirants should regularly check official announcements for any further updates regarding admit cards, examination centres, and guidelines.
The postponement is expected to benefit a large number of candidates by allowing them to appear for both the OTET and OSSSC examinations without facing scheduling conflicts.
