37% engg students passed first year exam in AP

It has been found that only 37% of engineering students in Andhra Pradesh engineering colleges have passed their first semester examination in all the subjects. Meanwhile in Telangana, 63% students have passed the examination.

Despite spending huge amount of money on higher education in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the situation remains unchanged.

According to the statistics by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), more than 50% of the engineering students have qualified for second year classes in Telangana but the numbers are worse in Andhra Pradesh.

Statistics also reveal that in spite of funds granted by the Central government, universities and engineering colleges are unable to generate revenue from consultancies or projects.

World Bank of TEQIP selects 13 engineering colleges from TS and AP for Phase II.

TEQIP officials said, "Our aim is to strengthen the education system in engineering colleges and produce quality engineers."
