The estimated $8 billion test prep market in India has been a largely offline play with the biggest share cornered by engineering and medical entrance exam takers. However, with technology-based platforms coming up, startups in the online education sector have started venturing into the test preparation space and are finding students and investor interest.

The online test preparation market in India is seeing huge potential in tier I and tier II cities. Websites like EntrancePrime.com, Toppr, 100marks, Mockbank, Embibe.com, simplilearn.com all cater to students who are moving away from traditional coaching classes on to the internet and mobile platforms.

Entranceprime.com is a website for test series preparations (JEE, AIPMT, BITSAT, CA-CPT and NTSE). The company has over 50,000 registered students. They largely concentrate on JEE (engineering) and AIPMT (medical) entrances exam preparation, which are the two most lucrative streams for the brick-and-mortar coaching institutes as well.

Industry experts say online test preparation market is going to a multibillion dollar industry in coming years.
