The School and Mass Education Department, Odisha has reduced the board syllabus for Classes 1 to 12 for the academic year 2020-21. It has reduced the Odisha school syllabus by 30 per cent. According to the sources, the government has decided to reduce the school syllabus for Class 1 to Class 12 based on the recommendations made by the three committees set up for the purpose. The Department has announced that those chapters which are required to stand out in the national-level tests have not been omitted. Students can check the revised Odisha board syllabus on the official website.

Odisha is not the first state to reduce the school syllabus. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 due to the delay in beginning the academic year 2020-21. The other states that reduced the school syllabus are Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and others.
