The Odisha Police State Selection Board (OSSB) has initiated its recruitment process for the 2024 cycle, offering 1,360 constable positions. This recruitment drive, however, is specifically for male candidates, as it excludes women, transgender individuals, and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD). Applicants should also note that they can only select one battalion during the application process, and this choice cannot be changed later.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the constable positions, candidates must be between 18 and 23 years of age as of January 1, 2024, with age relaxation applicable for those from reserved categories. Applicants must have passed the Class 10 (Matriculation) examination from the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha or an equivalent qualification from another recognized board, with Odia as a subject. Candidates must also be Indian citizens in good health, without any physical deformities, and proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Odia. Additionally, male candidates should not have more than one living spouse, except in cases where personal law allows otherwise.
Selection Process:
The recruitment process consists of several stages:
- Written Test
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Driving Test
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination
- Document Verification
Candidates who successfully pass all these stages will be considered for employment as constables. The salary for a police constable in Odisha ranges from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month, depending on factors such as rank, experience, and the location of posting, as per the 7th Pay Commission guidelines.
