Odisha government bars 336 college teachers from plus two exam panel

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4: The Odisha government has decided to keep 336 college teachers away from the panel of examiners for the annual Plus Two Examinations-2015 for their alleged goof up in evaluation of answer sheets last year, official sources said.

"The higher education department has served show cause notice to these teachers. Only one of the 336 responded to the notice. Therefore, action has been taken against them," said Durga Prasad Behera, additional secretary in the Higher Education department.

Behera said the list of examiners dropped from the panel includes 13 examiners who are teachers in government-run colleges.

Among them are teachers of reputed colleges like BJB College and Rama Devi College in Bhubaneswar, Government College in Phulbani and Dharanidhar College in Keonjhar. The rest were teachers of aided colleges.

Stating that disciplinary action would be taken against these examiners including chief examiners, deputy chief examiners and examiners, he said the government might withhold increments of the erring teachers.

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) was last year criticised for faulty evaluation after publication of the results of the Plus Two annual examinations.

In wake of the faulty evaluation of answer sheets, the state government had ordered a Plus Two instant examination, where about 10,000 students had appeared.
