NTA’s public notice dated September 16, 2026 sets examination windows through March 2027. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027 Session 1 is proposed on January 22–24 and January 28–30. January 31 is the buffer day. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) runs December 14–19, with buffers on December 20–21.
It also maps several allied tests students often juggle. Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) spans March 1–5, 8, 12–20 and 24–25, with March 30–31 buffers. NIFT entrance is January 10, while AISSEE is January 31. CMAT falls on February 7; NITTT will run February 26–27 and March 5, 7.

The notice stresses flexibility. “The dates indicated therein are tentative and may undergo changes owing to administrative/academic/ statutorily requirements etc.” Separate, detailed notifications will follow for each test. Track official portals for city intimation, admit cards, and revisions, rather than social media forwards.
January overlaps with board practicals in several states. To prevent clashes, create two JEE attempt paths across the blocks, then keep the buffer free. NTA has previously coordinated with boards to reduce conflicts. During JEE 2026 Session 2, it aligned dates with CBSE before finalising.
For research and teaching aspirants, the NET window stabilises semester planning and PhD admissions. CUET-PG’s long March schedule spreads footfall but needs stronger logistics. Lock internship vivas, campus drives and thesis milestones before those dates, using the buffer days as insurance.
Design hopefuls should reserve January 10 for NIFT and track portfolio or situation test advisories. Parents targeting Sainik Schools must book January 31 early and plan travel. RIMC and Rashtriya Military Schools fall in December, so Class 8 applicants should assemble documents now.
Set alerts for registration, corrections and admit cards. Keep Aadhaar, photos, signatures, category and disability proofs ready. Cross-check name formats. Choose nearby cities. Read every Information Bulletin. Attempt timed papers on Abhyas. Pre-book travel. Keep buffer days light. Trust only nta.ac.in notices.
Early clarity reduces anxiety only when paired with disciplined planning. Mark December 14–19 for UGC NET and January 22–24, 28–30 for JEE Main, then protect the buffers. Fix practicals and internships early, keep documents ready, and follow official portals so no opportunity slips.
