Nominations for the Padma Awards 2025, set to be announced on Republic Day 2025, began on May 1, 2024. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 15, 2024. Nominations can be submitted online via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in).

The Padma Awards, which include the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, are among India's highest civilian honors. Established in 1954, these awards are presented annually on Republic Day to recognize 'work of distinction' across various fields such as Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade and Industry.

Eligibility Criteria for Padma Awards:

All individuals are eligible for these awards regardless of race, occupation, position, or gender. However, government employees, including those working with PSUs, are not eligible unless they are Doctors or Scientists. The government encourages citizens to nominate deserving candidates.

The government aims to make the Padma Awards more inclusive by encouraging nominations from all sections of society. Special emphasis is placed on recognizing talents from women, weaker sections of society, SCs & STs, divyang persons, and those providing selfless service to society.
