In view of the continuing heatwave and rising daytime temperatures, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has revised school timings for students of Classes 1 to 8 across Noida and Greater Noida. The decision has been taken to safeguard children from prolonged exposure to extreme heat during school hours.

According to an order issued by the District Basic Education Officer (BSA), Gautam Buddh Nagar, all schools in the district will now function from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM with effect from June 29, 2026, until further orders. The revised schedule is applicable to government, government-aided, recognized private schools, CBSE, ICSE, Madrasa, and all other board-affiliated institutions operating within the district.
The district administration has directed all school managements to strictly implement the revised timings without exception. The move is aimed at ensuring that students complete their academic activities during the cooler hours of the morning, thereby reducing the risk of heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.
School authorities have also been instructed to ensure adequate drinking water facilities, proper ventilation in classrooms, and necessary precautions to protect students from the prevailing weather conditions.
The decision comes as Noida and Greater Noida continue to experience unusually high temperatures despite expectations of seasonal weather changes. Young children are particularly vulnerable to extreme heat, prompting the administration to prioritize their health and safety.
The district administration stated that the revised school schedule will remain in force until weather conditions improve and fresh instructions are issued.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance further across north India. The expected arrival of the monsoon is likely to bring rainfall and a gradual decline in temperatures across Uttar Pradesh, including the National Capital Region (NCR).
Officials said the administration will continue to monitor weather forecasts before taking a decision on restoring normal school timings.
Schools have been asked to comply fully with the revised schedule and avoid outdoor activities during school hours. Parents are also advised to ensure that children remain hydrated, carry water bottles to school, wear light cotton clothing, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun after school.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has emphasized that the revised timings are a precautionary measure aimed at protecting students until the heatwave subsides. Regular school timings will be restored only after a comprehensive review of the weather situation and issuance of fresh administrative orders.
