No takers for 8,700 plus-one seats in Kerala

After the conclusion of the 4 rounds of supplementary allotments to Higher Secondary courses of plus-one/class 11 through single window admission process, around 8,700 seats are still lying vacant.

This year the government had added 10,000 seats to the single window admission process, and sanctioned of 257 additional batches in northern districts. But there seem to be no takers for these seats.

The state court also pulled down the allotment of seats to the colleges from 700 to 415. Out of these, 257 batches had been added for the single window admission process.

According to General Secretary of Aided Higher Secondary Teachers Association, S Manoj, the creation of additional batches has served only in the increase of plus-on seats.

According to the Board officials, despite the vacant seats, more than 22,000 students are waiting for admissions in many districts.

The seats are lying vacant because of incorrect choice of subject-college combination, said an official.

The Board also announced the list of the candidates who have got alloted seats to them and also announced the vacancy of seats for the fifth supplementary allotment. Click here to check.
