There is no change in the fee structure for students currently studying in National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for B.Tech and M.Tech courses.
The Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (HRD) has announced that the tuition fee for the students studying in NITs would remain unchanged.
In May 2014, the NIT council committee recommended HRD ministry to approve the fee structure constituted by the NIT council.
Later, HRD Ministry had formed a committee to review the fee structure of various programmes in the NITs, as per the recommendations of the NIT council.
The council of NITs, in its meeting, had decided to follow the recommendations of the fee committee and the standing committee of the council of NITs:
- Tuition fee for B.Tech, MCA, M.Tech programmes should be increased to Rs 70,000/- per year.
- The tuition for the M.Sc programmes may be revised to Rs 15,000/-.
- The tuition fee for Ph.D programme may be revised to Rs 15,000/-.
In July 2014, an HRD Ministry notification stated that it has come to its notice that, some of the NITs are charging different tuition fess other than the approved fe by the council of NITs.
