NMMSS 2026-27 Scholarship Deadline Extended: Apply on NSP Before September 30

The Ministry of Education has extended NMMSS 2026–27 applications on the National Scholarship Portal to September 30, 2026. The notice, issued on September 1, clarifies that only students selected under the scheme should apply. This year, One-Time Registration on NSP is compulsory before submitting the NMMSS form.

Eligibility remains unchanged. States select students through the Class VIII NMMSS test, targeting government and aided schools. The scholarship supports classes IX to XII, at Rs 12,000 per year. Parental income must not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh annually, with relaxed marks criteria for reserved categories as notified earlier.

NMMSS 2026–27 deadline and verification cut-offs

The extended student deadline is September 30, 2026. Institute Nodal Officer verification closes October 15, followed by District Nodal Officer verification on October 31. Coordinate early with your school to avoid last‑minute rejections or access issues that often peak near cut‑offs on the portal.

NSP One-Time Registration (OTR): quick steps to begin

Generate your 14‑digit OTR using Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrolment ID. Complete face authentication via the NSP OTR app; minors may use a parent’s Aadhaar consent. Save the OTR and password. Then log in at scholarships.gov.in, choose NMMSS, confirm institute details, upload asked documents, and submit.

Documents and Aadhaar–bank seeding checklist

Keep Aadhaar, mobile linked to Aadhaar, bank passbook, income certificate as per state rules, and category proofs ready. Ensure your bank account is Aadhaar‑seeded; NPCI’s BASE platform and the NSP student corner provide seeding checks. Enter selection details exactly as issued by your state authority.

PwD applicants: UDID consent is mandatory

Before applying, disabled students must sign in to the UDID portal and give consent to share UDID data with NSP. Without this consent, the application cannot be submitted on the portal. Complete UDID steps first, then proceed with OTR and the NMMSS form on NSP.

Track status, payments and fix rejections

Check your application status inside NSP. Track Direct Benefit Transfer progress on PFMS using the portal’s “Track Your Payment” link. If marked “Defective,” correct and resubmit within the portal timeline. For help, contact the NSP Helpdesk at 0120‑6619540, 8 am–8 pm, or use in‑portal grievances. Apply well before September 30.
