The prestigious event witnessed participation from 32 law teams representing leading universities and law schools, who competed in a rigorous intellectual exercise focused on constitutional and copyright law issues.
The competition aimed to provide students with a realistic courtroom experience while sharpening their legal research, analytical thinking, advocacy, and argumentation skills. Moot court competitions play a crucial role in legal education as they simulate court proceedings and allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical legal challenges.
The event commenced with a distinguished inaugural ceremony on March 13, graced by Rajesh Bindal as the Chief Guest. In his address, Justice Bindal emphasized the importance of legal ethics, constitutional values, and rigorous research in shaping competent legal professionals. He encouraged students to use such academic platforms to develop strong advocacy skills and contribute meaningfully to the legal system.
The ceremony was further honoured by Virender Singh and Balram K. Gupta, who attended as Guests of Honour. They highlighted the significance of moot court competitions in nurturing critical thinking, persuasive argumentation, and professional courtroom conduct among aspiring lawyers.
Over the two-day competition, participating teams presented their arguments before distinguished panels of judges comprising legal practitioners, academicians, and judicial experts. The moot problem revolved around complex issues of constitutional interpretation and copyright law, challenging participants to analyze evolving legal principles and present well-structured arguments.
Students showcased impressive advocacy skills through memorial submissions, oral arguments, rebuttals, and sur-rebuttals, demonstrating deep research and strong understanding of contemporary legal debates. The judges evaluated teams based on legal reasoning, clarity of arguments, knowledge of case laws, and courtroom etiquette.
The competition concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, where the winning teams and best speakers were recognized for their outstanding performance. The event reinforced NMIMS School of Law Chandigarh's commitment to promoting experiential learning and academic excellence in legal education.
Through initiatives like the National Moot Court Competition, NMIMS Chandigarh continues to create meaningful platforms for law students to engage with real-world legal challenges and build the skills required for successful careers in the legal profession.
