NLUD launches a new course on 'Tourism and Environmental Law'

National Law University, Delhi, launched a new course 'Tourism and Environmental Law'. This joint venture of NLUD and WWF India, will train the students with various aspects of tourism, with specific focus on socio-cultural, legal and policy issue. The students will be given Postgraduate Diploma degree in Tourism and Environmental Law, on the completion of this course.


Director of Central for Environmental Law, WWF, India, Moulika Arabhi says "The programme dwells on the relationship between tourism and the environment at a global and regional level. It would be useful to all tourism producers. It aims to assist professionals and fresh graduates to develop a better understanding of the tourism industry especially in relation to those working in areas of ecotourism."

Tourism and Environmental Law

This new programme contains five modules. Four out of five modules consist of technical theory papers and one is a project report. The areas on which these four modules focus on include introduction of tourism, economy of tourism, business proposition, link between tourism and environment, nature tourism, safe practices etc. There are various methods in this programme like case studies, court orders, judgments, etc. adopted by the experts to train students.

The programme is open to graduates from any stream and working professionals with minimum two years experience in a relevant field. "Students who completed the programme can make a mark as service providers in the tourism or transport industry," says the director of Central for Environmental Law.

Currently, there are 30 seats kept for this new course with the course fees of Rs 15,000. However, the applications can be made all around the year. Applicants are selected on the basis of telephonic interview, which is followed by one-to-one discussion. The next intake is slated for March 2014.
