NITI NCAER States Economic Forum Portal Launched For Economic Insights

On Tuesday, the "NITI NCAER States Economic Forum" portal, a significant resource offering detailed data on the economic, social, and fiscal aspects of Indian states for over three decades up until the fiscal year 2022-23, will be unveiled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This initiative, a collaborative effort between NITI Aayog and the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), is designed to provide an exhaustive database organized into five main categories: Demography; Economic Structure; Fiscal; and Health and Education of states.

NITI NCAER Launches Economic Data Portal For India

The portal is set to revolutionize access to data, presenting a macro and fiscal overview of 28 Indian states. It is outlined with indicators covering demography, economic structure, socio-economic, and fiscal data. NITI Aayog highlights that this platform aims to simplify the understanding of various trends and make data more accessible in a format that is user-friendly. The portal addresses the critical need for a consolidated source of sectoral data, all available in one location.

Enhancing Policy Development and Research

By offering a platform where data from each state can be compared against others and national averages, the portal ensures a comprehensive benchmarking process. This feature is particularly beneficial for policymakers, researchers, and individuals keen on leveraging this data for more informed debates and discussions. It serves not only as a vast repository of information but also as a forum for engaging in meaningful policy dialogues.

The introduction of the "NITI NCAER States Economic Forum" portal marks a pivotal step towards facilitating evidence-based policy making. It consolidates an extensive range of indicators spanning the past 30 years into a central hub. This initiative will enable users to analyze historical trends, pinpoint emerging patterns, and develop policies rooted in factual data. According to NITI Aayog, this approach will significantly aid in tracking development progress and formulating strategic plans for future growth.

In conclusion, the launch of this portal represents a milestone in the pursuit of streamlined access to vital socio-economic and fiscal data across India's states. It promises to enhance the quality of research, policy formulation, and public discourse by providing a detailed, comparative analysis of statewide data against a backdrop of national figures. This tool is expected to be a valuable asset for a wide array of stakeholders, including government officials, analysts, and academic researchers, in their efforts to drive informed and impactful development initiatives.
