National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW) has opened the admission process for the Academic Year 2026-27 for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering, science, management, and allied disciplines.

Established in 1959 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), the foundation stone of the institute was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru, making it the first among the chain of RECs that later evolved into the National Institutes of Technology. It is now recognized as an institution of national importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

For the 2026-27 academic session, the institute offers 10 undergraduate (B.Tech) programmes across major engineering disciplines. At the postgraduate level, it provides M.Tech, M.Sc, MCA, and MBA programmes, along with doctoral (PhD) research opportunities in engineering, sciences, humanities, physical education, and management. The academic structure is supported by 13 departments and several advanced research centres, along with nearly 100 laboratories that facilitate teaching and research activities.
Admissions to undergraduate programmes are conducted through the national-level entrance examination Joint Entrance Examination Main, followed by centralized counselling. Postgraduate admissions typically require valid scores in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, while MBA admissions may consider exams such as Common Admission Test or equivalent. Doctoral admissions are based on institute-level selection processes, including written tests and interviews.
The campus of NIT Warangal is spread across approximately 248 acres of wooded land and is located near Warangal, about 3 km from Kazipet Railway Station and around 140 km from Hyderabad. The institute is a fully residential campus, accommodating over 6,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students along with more than 1,000 research scholars. The campus infrastructure includes academic buildings, research labs, hostels, a central library, auditoriums, sports complexes, a student activity centre, and healthcare facilities.
The institute has received support from organizations such as UNESCO and development initiatives like the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), contributing to its academic and infrastructure development over the years.
