National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has opened the admission process for the Academic Year 2026-27 for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering, science, technology, and management.

The institute is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India recognized as institutions of national importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 and is fully funded by the Government of India.

The institution was originally established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College (REC) and later upgraded to a National Institute of Technology in 2002, before being brought under the framework of the NIT Act in 2007. Since then, the institute has expanded its academic offerings and research activities, becoming one of the prominent technical institutions in the country.

For the 2026-27 academic session, NIT Calicut offers 11 undergraduate programmes in various branches of engineering and 29 postgraduate programmes, including specialized master's degrees and an MBA programme. The institute also provides doctoral research opportunities (PhD) across multiple disciplines in engineering, science, technology, and management. Admissions to undergraduate programmes are generally conducted through the national-level entrance examination Joint Entrance Examination Main, while postgraduate admissions may involve exams such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and Common Admission Test depending on the programme.

The institute's campus is located near Kozhikode (historically known as Calicut) in the state of Kerala. Situated about 22 kilometres northeast of Kozhikode city, the campus lies at the foothills of the Western Ghats and extends across approximately 120 hectares along the Calicut-Mukkam road. The scenic location combines natural surroundings with modern academic infrastructure.

As a fully residential institution, the campus includes academic buildings, advanced laboratories, research centres, student hostels, faculty residences, and other essential facilities. Over the years, the institute has also strengthened collaborations with research organizations, academic institutions, and industries, contributing to increased research output in the form of publications, patents, and technological innovations.
