Nirma University declares conference

Centre for International Humanitarian Law Studies, Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) is organising the third edition of its annual flagship event - National Students conference on "International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Laws" in association with International Committee on Red Cross.

Considering the present global need it is prerogative of the hour to reconsider human rights at a larger perspective to combat the difficulties at a global arena. Armed conflict is as old as humankind and therefore to ensure a way out to a better sustainable society overcoming the dark side of the coin the meeting of the minds is a need for the hour. Since International Humanitarian law deals with a multi-disciplinary issue and also the challenges to achieve its objectives the conference ensures to invite every mind interested to participate and deliberate on the conceptual aspect of International Humanitarian Law.

Also the role International Refugee Laws plays in protection of refugees and displaced people can never be over emphasised. Issues concerning international protection of refugees have undergone a sea change from the time when the 1951 Refugee Convention came into force and calls for a debate from a theoretical and a practical perspective.

The conference would showcase a platform for interaction of minds from eminent personalities, students, organizations and every stakeholder having tincture of interest.

To encourage the young scholars, the best papers from each track will be rewarded.

The conference will be conducted between 22nd and 23rd February, 2014.
