The Ministry of Education is set to announce the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings today, August 12, 2024, at 3 PM. Ranking Parameters

The methodology for ranking is developed by a Core Committee established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The parameters include:
The weightage assigned to each parameter varies as follows:

  • Teaching Learning & Resources: 30%
  • Research & Professional Practice: 30%
  • Graduation Outcomes: 20%
  • Outreach & Inclusivity: 10%
  • Perception: 10%

For instance, teaching and learning resources account for a significant portion of the ranking criteria, while research output and professional practices also play crucial roles in determining an institution's rank.

Top Institutions in 2023

In the previous year's rankings announced on June 5, 2023, IIT Madras secured the top spot in the 'Overall' category. IISc Bengaluru and IIT Delhi followed in second and third places respectively. In the 'Universities' category, IISc Bengaluru was ranked first. Miranda House topped the list among colleges, and AIIMS Delhi led the medical category.

A total of 8,688 institutions participated in the NIRF ranking process last year. In engineering, IIT Madras was followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. Top management institutions included IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bengaluru.

This structured approach ensures a balanced evaluation of all participating institutions based on their strengths across different domains.
