President Shri Ram Nath Kovind has declared the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2019. The ranking has been announced in the official ceremony held at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. It has also released the Atal Ranking of Institutes on Innovations Achievements (ARIIA) 2019.
The MHRD also held an award ceremony for both the NIRF Rankings and Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2019. MHRD has released the ARIIA winners for the first time. MHRD has decided to launch ARIIA rankings to promote innovative teaching, learning and research culture in the educational institutions.

The HRD Ministry has released the rankings in nine categories which include an Overall category besides Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture and Medical.

MHRD has launched the NIRF rankings in 2016. Initially, the ranking was released only for four categories. Over the years, the NIRF ranking has become very famous and widely accepted. The participation of the institutes in the national ranking system also increased over the years.
