The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has cancelled the Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary) board exams 2020 scheduled in March and rescheduled from July 17. The NIOS board exams 2020 cancelled in wake of COVID-19 spread in the country. The results will be announced to enable the verticle mobility of learners, based thereon. Candidates will be provided with an option to appear in the next Public Examination/ On Demand Examination as and when the situation is conducive. To conduct exams. The NIOS has also released a notice regarding the assessment scheme.

HRD Ministry has announced the cancellation of the NIOS board exams through the official twitter handle. It reads, "Keeping in view the health of the learners, #NIOS public #exams scheduled to be held in July 2020 now stand cancelled. The results will be declared based on the assessment scheme finalized by the competent committee of @niostwit."

NIOS Assessment Scheme
The notice reads, "For learners of Secondary and Senior Secondary, who have past performance (i.e. passed) in four subjects, the average of marks obtained in the best three performed subjects will be awarded as theory performance in the subjects for which the learner was registered to appear in the examination which could not be held in March-April 2020."
It added, "For all learners who were to appear for the first time and their Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) and/or practical marks are available, their performance will be calculated based on the basis of available TMA and/or practical marks viz-a-viz performance of last three public examinations in the subjects for which the learners was registered to appear in the examination which could not be held in March-April 2020."
"The TMA and/or practical marks secured by the learner shall be reflected along with the theory marks in the marks statement," the notice concluded.
