Modi Introduces 85 New Kendriya Vidyalayas To Improve Education Access

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant move towards enhancing the accessibility of school education in India. The government has sanctioned the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the nation. This initiative is set to pave the way for a substantial number of students to gain access to education, while simultaneously generating numerous job opportunities. Modi expressed his thoughts on this development through a post on X, stating, "Our government has taken another big decision to make school education as accessible as possible. Under this, 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened across the country. While this step will benefit a large number of students, many new employment opportunities will also be created."

Furthering the government's commitment to the National Education Policy, Modi announced the approval of 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas as well. This move aims to extend residential and quality education further, ensuring that every segment of society has access to schooling. "As part of that, our government has approved 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. This will expand residential and quality school education to a larger extent," Modi detailed in another post on X.

Expansion of Educational Infrastructure

The establishment of these new Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas represents a significant leap towards expanding the educational infrastructure in India. Over 82,000 students are expected to benefit from the opportunity to receive affordable and high-quality education through these new schools. This expansion aligns with the government's broader vision of making education accessible to all. The total financial outlay required for the establishment of the 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas and the expansion of an existing Kendriya Vidyalaya amounts to Rs 5,872.08 crore, spanning eight years from 2025-26. Presently, there are 1,256 operational Kendriya Vidyalayas, including three international ones located in Moscow, Kathmandu, and Tehran, catering to 13.56 lakh students.

Enhancing Connectivity with Infrastructure Projects

In addition to educational advancements, the Modi government is focusing on improving national connectivity. A significant step in this direction is the approval of the Rithala-Kundli corridor under the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region. This project is expected to simplify the commute between Delhi and Haryana, enhancing connectivity within the region. Modi highlighted, "In this direction, our government has approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor under the fourth phase of Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region. This will make commuting between Delhi and Haryana easier." The 26.463-km Rithala-Kundli corridor, featuring 21 elevated stations, will further bolster the connection between the national capital and the neighboring state of Haryana.

The decisions regarding the educational institutions and the metro corridor were reached during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Modi. These developments underscore the government's dedication to improving both the educational landscape and the infrastructure of the country. By broadening the scope of schooling with new Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas and enhancing transportation networks, the government aims to foster a more inclusive and connected India.
