NEET UG Re-exam Result 2026 Expected by July 20; MBBS Academic Session to Begin on Time
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the NEET UG 2026 re-examination result by July 20, 2026, according to a senior official. While the agency has not specified an exact result date, it has confirmed that the evaluation process is being carried out on a priority basis to ensure timely publication of the results.
The official also assured students that the 2026-27 MBBS academic session will begin as scheduled, and the declaration of the re-examination result will not affect the admission timeline.
NEET UG Re-exam Result Expected by July 20
The NEET UG re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the original examination held on May 3, 2026. The earlier exam was cancelled after allegations of a question paper leak, affecting more than 20 lakh medical aspirants across the country.
Since then, the NTA has been working to complete the evaluation process and release the results within the revised admission schedule.
According to the official, the result will be announced on or before July 20, although no specific date has been confirmed.
Answer Key Challenge Process Completed
The provisional answer key for the re-examination was released on June 25, 2026, allowing candidates to review their responses and raise objections.
The objection window remained open until June 28, 2026, during which candidates could challenge any answer by submitting supporting academic evidence and paying the prescribed processing fee.
Officials have stated that the NTA received around 10,000 objections from candidates. Subject experts are reviewing all valid challenges before preparing the final answer key, which will be used to calculate the final results.
Result to Include Rank and Qualifying Status
Once declared, candidates will be able to download their NEET UG 2026 scorecards from the official NTA website using their application number and password.
The scorecard is expected to contain:
- Candidate's Name
- Roll Number
- Subject-wise Marks
- Total Marks Obtained
- Percentile Score
- All India Rank (AIR)
- Category Rank
- Qualifying Status
Along with the result, NTA is also expected to release the final answer key, category-wise cut-off marks, and merit list.
Counselling Process After Result
Following the announcement of the result, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and respective state counselling authorities are expected to begin the counselling process for admission to:
- MBBS
- BDS
- BSc Nursing
- AYUSH Courses
- Other undergraduate medical programmes
Candidates should regularly monitor the official counselling websites for registration dates, choice filling, and seat allotment schedules.
Academic Session to Remain on Schedule
The NTA has reiterated that despite the re-examination and subsequent evaluation process, there will be no delay in the commencement of the MBBS academic session. Authorities are coordinating with counselling bodies and medical institutions to ensure that admissions proceed according to the revised timeline.
