NEET UG Counselling 2024: Registration Process, Required Documents and more details

The NEET counselling process is a crucial step for medical aspirants in India, determining their admission to various medical colleges. Understanding the entire procedure is essential for candidates to secure their desired seats.

NEET UG Counselling 2024: Registration Process

NEET counselling typically begins after the results are announced. Candidates must keep track of important dates to avoid missing deadlines. Eligibility criteria include passing the NEET exam and meeting specific cut-off marks set by different colleges.
Applicants should ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before applying, including having valid documents and meeting the age criteria. It's also important to check for any state-specific requirements.

Application Process

The application process for NEET counselling involves several steps:

  • Registration: Candidates need to register on the official counselling website, providing personal details, academic information, and uploading necessary documents.
  • Choice Filling: After registration, candidates can choose their preferred colleges and courses. Selecting multiple options is advisable to increase chances of getting a seat. Choices should be based on rank, cut-off marks, and personal preference.

NEET UG Registration Fee 2024

To apply for online counselling for NEET (UG) 2024 for MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2024-25, candidates will need to pay a fee of ₹1000/- using a debit card, credit card, NET banking, or UPI. Aspirants belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Persons with Disabilities will need to pay ₹500/-.

Document Verification

Once the application is submitted, candidates must attend document verification sessions. They need to carry original documents along with photocopies for verification purposes. This step ensures that all information provided during registration is accurate.

NEET UG Required Documents 2024

For UG medical and dental counselling for the academic year 2024-25, the following documents are required:

  • NEET UG 2024 Admit Card
  • NEET UG 2024 Score Card/Rank Card
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate
  • Date of Birth (DOB) Certificate
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.)
  • Passport-size Photographs
  • Provisional Allotment Letter
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last attended institute
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)

Any discrepancy in documents can lead to disqualification from the counselling process.

Seat Allotment

The seat allotment process is conducted in multiple rounds. Based on their rank and preferences, candidates are allotted seats in various medical colleges. If a candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat, they can accept it; otherwise, they can participate in subsequent rounds.

"The seat allotment process is transparent and based on merit," said an official from the counselling committee. "Candidates should carefully consider their options before making a decision."

Reporting to Allotted College

Candidates who accept their allotted seats must report to the respective college within the specified time frame. Failure to do so may result in losing the seat. At the college, further verification of documents takes place before final admission.

This step involves paying the admission fee and completing other formalities as required by the college administration. It's crucial for candidates to adhere to deadlines to secure their admission successfully.

Reservation Criteria

The NEET counselling process also considers reservation criteria set by the government. Seats are reserved for categories such as SC/ST/OBC/PwD as per regulations. Candidates belonging to these categories must provide relevant certificates during document verification.

"Reservation policies ensure fair opportunities for all sections of society," stated a representative from a leading medical institution. "Candidates should be aware of these provisions while applying."

Mop-Up Rounds

If seats remain vacant after regular rounds of counselling, mop-up rounds are conducted. These rounds provide another opportunity for candidates who did not secure a seat earlier or wish to upgrade their choice.

Mop-up rounds follow similar procedures as regular rounds but may have different timelines and specific instructions from authorities overseeing them.
