Round 2 of NEET UG 2026 counselling opens September 3 with strictly timed windows. Registration runs September 3–8, 3 pm, with payment till 6 pm. Choice filling ends 10 am September 9; locking runs 4 pm September 8 to 10 am September 9. Results September 11; reporting September 12–18.
Fresh registration is allowed September 3 to 8. Round 1 seat holders may choose Freeze or Float. Float enables online document verification without visiting, and upgradation auto‑relieves the Round 1 seat. If allotted in Round 2 and you do not join, the security deposit is forfeited.

Do not cut it close. Unlocked choices auto‑lock as per schedule. Locking opens 4 pm September 8 and ends 10 am September 9. Seat processing runs September 9 to 10. Use server time, not local device time, to avoid last‑minute errors or missed windows.
New registrants who are not allotted in Round 2 can join Round 3 without registering again. Upgraders need not report physically if floating; freeze candidates must report. On upgrade, Round 1 seats are vacated automatically, with no claim later. Not joining an allotted Round 2 seat triggers forfeiture.
Carry original Allotment Letter, NTA admit and rank letter. Bring Class 10 and 12 certificates and marksheets, plus eight identical photos. Carry a valid identity proof such as Aadhaar, PAN, passport or driving licence. Carry SC, ST, OBC‑NCL, EWS or PwD certificates if applicable. Originals are mandatory; translations may be needed.
For All India Quota and central institutions, registration fee is Rs 1,000 for UR or EWS. It is Rs 500 for SC, ST, OBC or PwD. Security deposit is Rs 10,000 or Rs 5,000 respectively. Deemed universities charge Rs 5,000 registration plus Rs 2,00,000 security. Refunds go only to the paying account; avoid unrelated or NRI accounts.
Resignation is allowed in Rounds 1 and 2 within schedule; Round 3 resignations are barred. Data sharing between Centre and States prevents holding multiple seats. It also blocks stray round eligibility if already allotted. If state rounds overlap, plan choices carefully, avoid double commitments, and join early. Round 2 result arrives September 11.
