NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Counselling Temporarily Suspended by MCC

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a temporary suspension of the NEET UG 2025 Round 1 counselling process, including the choice filling and locking options.

NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Counselling Suspended by MCC

NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Counselling Suspended - Revised Dates Awaited

This unexpected pause has come due to procedural delays involving document verification, particularly for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates, and to accommodate updates in the seat matrix across participating institutions.

Originally scheduled to conclude by August 3, 2025, the counselling process has now been paused, with the revised schedule expected to be declared shortly on the official portal - mcc.nic.in. Students are advised to refrain from submitting or locking choices until the new dates are published.

Why the Pause Was Announced

The MCC cited the following reasons:

  • Delayed issuance and verification of disability certificates for PwBD candidates.
  • Ongoing seat verification and final matrix approval by several colleges.
  • Recent granting of NRI status to over 180 candidates, leading to updated seat distribution.
  • These developments required MCC to revise the process timeline to ensure fairness and transparency in Round 1 seat allocation.

Expected Updates in the Counselling Schedule

Although the original timeline had the seat allotment result expected by August 6, followed by physical reporting between August 7-11, the suspension has reset this schedule. Once seat data is validated and pending processes are complete, MCC will announce new dates for each step of the Round 1 counselling.

Aspirants must keep an eye on official notifications and avoid relying on unofficial sources.

What Should Candidates Do Now?

  • Monitor the MCC portal regularly for any updates.
  • Keep all relevant documents ready, especially if applying under the PwBD or NRI categories.
  • Do not attempt to complete choice filling or locking until the portal is officially reopened.
  • Review seat matrix updates (once published) to plan choices accordingly.

Important Notes for NEET UG Aspirants

The suspension is meant to ensure accurate, equitable, and error-free allotments.

Aspirants should avoid panic and follow only official MCC instructions.

Summary

The NEET UG 2025 Round 1 counselling has been put on hold due to documentation and verification delays involving PwBD and NRI categories. MCC is expected to release a new, revised counselling calendar soon. Candidates are urged to stay alert and maintain readiness to complete the remaining steps swiftly once the process resumes.
