The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the NEET UG 2020 exam. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam 2020 scheduled to be held on July 26 was postponed. As per the official sources, the new exam date for NEET 2020 is September 13.

 

Earlier, NTA has postponed the NEET 2020 scheduled on May 3 due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. It further postponed NEET exam scheduled on July 26 due to inappropriate conditions.

NEET 2020 On September 13

The NTA has rescheduled the NEET 2020 exam on September 13. The entrance exam will be held from 2 to 5 PM. HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has confirmed the NEET exam date.

Union Education Minister tweeted, "Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone #JEE & #NEET examinations. JEE Main examination will be held between 1st-6th Sept, JEE advanced exam will be held on 27th Sept & NEET examination will be held on 13th Sept."

NEET 2020 Postponed

The official notice reads, "The NTA has now decided that the rescheduled NEET 2020 will be held on July 26. The dates of downloading the of admit cards indicating roll numbers and centre of the examination will be displayed 15 days before the conduct of examination on the official site."

Ministry of HRD tweeted, "Since Parents and Students have to travel to different examination centres, to avoid any inconvenience to them, Union HRD Minister @DrRPNishank has directed National Testing Agency @DG_NTA to postpone NEET (UG) 2020 and JEE(Main) till last week of May."

HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has tweeted, "Since Parents and Students have to travel to different examination centres, to avoid any inconvenience to them, I have directed National Testing Agency @DG_NTA to postpone NEET (UG) 2020 and JEE(Main) till last week of May."

The official NTA notice reads, "In view of the hardships faced by the parents and the students due to COVID-19 epidemic, the National Testing Agency has postponed the ensuing NEET (UG) May 2020 examination scheduled to be held on the 3rd May 2020."

The notice reads, "We are hopeful that we would get back to normal situation relatively soon; but for now, various concerned Ministries and Examination Boards are examining the scenario to evaluate the situation that may necessitate any change in the schedule. As of now the examination is proposed to be held in the last week on May 2020. Exact date will be announced later on after assessing the situation."

It also reads, "Accordingly, the Admit Cards for the Examination which were to be issued on 27th March 2020 will now be issued later on after assessing the situation after 15th April 2020 only."

It concluded, "The candidates and their parents are advised to keep visiting ntaneet.nic.in and www.nta.ac.in for latest updates. They are also being informed individually through their registered mobile number/ email-id. NEET UG 2020 entrance exam is conducted annually for admission to undergraduate medical or MBBS, BDS and AYUSH programmes across the country. Last year, the Government has decided to scrap AIIMS and JIPMER for admission to MBBS programmes.

Earlier, NTA has postponed JEE Main (April) 2020 examination. CBSE and CISCE along with many state education boards have postponed the board examinations due to Novel Coronavirus.
