Today, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) kickstarted the NEET PG Round 2 counselling choice-filling process for 2024. Qualified candidates can now register and prioritize their preferred courses and institutions on the official platform, mcc.nic.in, until 11:55 pm on December 9. This round is critical, offering another opportunity to secure seats in top medical programs across the country.

In addition to enabling choice filling, the MCC has announced the release of the Round 2 seat matrix, a tool that helps candidates make informed decisions based on seat availability. To finalize their choices, applicants must participate in the choice locking phase starting at 4 pm on December 9 and ending at midnight. This step ensures that preferences are officially recorded for the seat allocation process.
Essential Tips for Candidates
The MCC has urged candidates to carefully review the fee structures and additional charges, particularly for Deemed Universities, before locking in their choices. This step helps avoid unexpected financial surprises. To increase their admission chances, applicants are encouraged to select a wide range of options.
Seat Allocation and Transparency Concerns
The results of Round 2 seat allocation will be declared on December 12, based on NEET PG scores, seat availability, and previous cutoff trends. However, the counselling process hasn't been without its share of controversies. Some aspirants have raised concerns about the fairness of the exam and counselling mechanisms, citing issues such as merit list errors, in-service quota discrepancies, and the double normalization process.
Legal Battle Over NEET PG
Amid these concerns, many aspirants have taken legal action, appealing to the Supreme Court and various high courts for transparency. They have demanded the release of the NEET PG answer key, question paper, and raw marks to ensure fairness. While the Supreme Court has postponed its decision multiple times, the pending outcome could set crucial precedents for future admissions.
As candidates navigate Round 2 counselling and await legal clarity, the NEET PG process highlights the need for robust, transparent mechanisms in India's medical education system. Aspirants are advised to stay updated with official announcements and carefully plan their choices to maximize their chances of success.
