NEET 2024 Counselling Begins July 24: Fees, Seat Matrix, and Detailed Process Explained

The NEET 2024 counselling process is scheduled to begin on July 24, 2024, with the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) managing the procedure. Although the complete schedule is yet to be released, medical colleges are required to submit their seat matrix by July 20, 2024.

NEET 2024 Counselling Begins July 24

This counselling will cover MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and Veterinary courses through several rounds.

Types of Counselling:

NEET 2024 will involve three types of counselling:

All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling: Administered by the MCC, this process allocates 15% of seats in government medical colleges across India.

State Quota Counselling: Managed by state authorities, this includes seats in both government and private medical colleges within each state.

AYUSH Counselling: Specifically for admissions into AYUSH courses like BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, and BSMS.

Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria to participate in the counselling, including having qualified for the NEET UG 2024 exam and meeting age requirements, which vary by category. The process involves registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document submission, and reporting to the assigned college.

Registration and Fees:

To register for NEET 2024 counselling, candidates will need to pay INR 1000 for the General/OBC/EWS categories and INR 500 for SC/ST/PwD categories. The process is conducted online via the MCC website. Candidates must register for each round except the Stray Vacancy round. They are required to provide their contact details, NEET 2024 Roll Number, Rank, Scores, and other necessary information, along with the registration fee and a refundable security deposit.

After registration, candidates select their preferred colleges and lock their choices. Following this, seat allotment results are processed and announced. Candidates must then upload the necessary documents and report to their allotted institution.

Document Requirements:

Participants in NEET 2024 counselling need to submit several documents, including class 10 and 12 certificates, ID proof, photographs, caste certificate (if applicable), and PwD certificate (if applicable). NRI/OCI candidates must provide additional documents if applying to deemed universities.

The Stray Vacancy round does not require prior registration or choice-filling; seat allotment results are directly released. Candidates can find detailed instructions for the counselling process on the MCC website.

Counselling Rounds:

The NEET UG 2024 Seat Matrix will be updated and released before each counselling round to indicate seat availability. The process includes online registration, choice filling, and seat allocation across approximately six rounds, depending on vacant seats.

Counselling for All India Quota seats will occur in four rounds. States will conduct separate counselling processes for admission to government and private medical colleges under the 85% state quota.

Special Provisions:

Candidates wishing to change their nationality from Indian to NRI for counselling must inform the authorities and submit relevant documents to verify their NRI status.

Following the announcement of NEET 2024 results on June 4, with 67 students achieving All India Rank 1, the counselling process will extend over four to five months based on the availability of seats.

This detailed process ensures that all eligible candidates have a fair opportunity to secure a seat in their desired medical course through organized and transparent allocation rounds.
