According to the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE), the NCERT is preparing to unveil a fresh curriculum for students in Class 3 and 6, effective from the forthcoming academic session of 2024-25.

NCERT intends to launch the corresponding textbooks for these two grades, recognizing that Class 3 signifies the outset of preparatory education, while Class 6 signifies the initial phase of the middle school years. In correspondence addressed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), NCERT expressed its commitment to furnish the board, along with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), with a syllabus bridge program for Grade 6, as well as clear directives for Grade 3.
The notification encourages CBSE to disseminate this update to school administrators, educators, and parents. It suggests devising a plan to involve students in Grades 3 and 6 in interactive and activity-centered learning as they embark on the upcoming academic year. This strategy aims to cultivate a holistic learning environment covering arts, physical education, wellness, skill development, and updated perspectives across language, mathematics, science, environmental education, and social sciences.
Moreover, the notification outlines that NCERT will provide CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) with a transition program for Grade 6 and concise directives for Grade 3. The objective of this initiative is to facilitate a smooth shift for students towards novel teaching methods and subject matter, especially focusing on Arts, Physical Education, Vocational Education, and The World Around Us (for Grade 3). Activity books and textbooks are being crafted with innovative viewpoints aligned with NCF-SE 2023.
