The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has officially launched the first set of new textbooks aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The initial rollout, which includes Class 3 and Class 6 textbooks, marks a major step towards transforming school education in India.

The revamped curriculum introduces critical thinking, experiential learning, and multilingual education as core principles. The books are designed to promote conceptual clarity, reduce rote learning, and encourage skill development.
Class 3: Environmental Studies (EVS), Mathematics, Hindi, English
Class 6: Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Hindi, English
Emphasis has been placed on 'learning through discovery' with activities and projects included in each chapter.
These new textbooks aim to implement the NEP's goals of:
2024-25: Development of new syllabus and textbooks
2025-26: Launch for Class 3 and Class 6 (pilot phase)
2026-27: Gradual rollout for other classes across primary, middle, and secondary levels
Textbooks are available both in print and digital formats via the DIKSHA platform and ePathshala App
Audio-visual and interactive formats will soon accompany the printed books
Teachers will also get orientation modules and training support
