District Magistrate Arvind Mallapa has issued an official directive stating that all educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district will be closed from July 26 to August 2, 2024. This closure is in preparation for the Kanwar Yatra, as reported by the media.

The order affects all primary, upper primary, secondary schools, and those affiliated with CBSE and ICSE boards. Additionally, madrasas, degree colleges, DIET, and technical institutes will also remain shut during this period. The decision aims to manage the influx of devotees on the roads during the Kanwar Yatra.
In Varanasi, Indore, and Ujjain, school schedules have been adjusted for student safety during the yatra. Schools in these districts will close on Mondays throughout the season and hold classes on Sundays instead.
Kanwar Yatra Schedule
This year's Kanwar Yatra is scheduled from July 22 to August 6, 2024. In Delhi, police have issued a traffic advisory due to the yatra. However, no announcements have been made regarding school and college closures in Delhi.
The eight-day closure in Muzaffarnagar includes all types of educational institutions to ensure smooth passage for devotees. The large number of participants necessitates such measures to maintain order and safety.
These adjustments reflect efforts to balance religious activities with public safety and education needs. The changes in school schedules aim to minimize disruption while accommodating the significant event.
The authorities' proactive steps highlight their commitment to managing large gatherings effectively. Ensuring student safety remains a priority during such events.
The Kanwar Yatra attracts numerous devotees each year, making it essential for local administrations to plan accordingly. These measures are part of broader efforts to handle the logistical challenges posed by such large-scale events.
Overall, these decisions underscore the importance of careful planning and coordination between various stakeholders during major religious events like the Kanwar Yatra.
