Mumbai University Postpones July 6 Examinations Due to Heavy Rain; Revised Schedule Soon

The University of Mumbai has postponed all examinations scheduled for July 6, 2026, following persistent heavy rainfall across Mumbai and the latest weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department. The decision has been taken to safeguard students, faculty members, and examination staff from the impact of severe weather conditions.

Mumbai University Postpones July 6 Examinations

In an official notification, the university confirmed that all examinations planned for July 6 under its jurisdiction have been deferred until further notice. The administration stated that the move was made after considering the ongoing monsoon conditions and forecasts predicting continued heavy rainfall across Mumbai and adjoining areas.

The city has been witnessing intense showers over the past few days, resulting in waterlogging, traffic congestion, and disruptions to daily commuting. Since thousands of students travel from different parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to examination centres, the university decided to postpone the examinations to avoid any inconvenience or safety risks.

Revised Examination Dates to Be Released

The University of Mumbai has informed students that a revised examination timetable for the postponed papers will be announced separately. Candidates are advised to keep checking the university's official website and official communication channels for updates regarding the new schedule.

The university has also requested affiliated colleges, examination centres, faculty members, and students to take note of the postponement and share the information with concerned candidates to avoid confusion.

Student Advisory

Students are encouraged not to rely on unofficial sources or social media rumours regarding the revised examination dates. Instead, they should follow announcements released by the university through its official website and authorized notifications.

At present, the postponement applies only to examinations scheduled for July 6, 2026. No changes have been announced regarding examinations planned for subsequent dates. Any further decisions will depend on weather conditions and official advisories issued by the IMD.

The University of Mumbai reiterated that the decision was taken solely as a precautionary measure to prioritize the safety and well-being of students during the ongoing spell of heavy monsoon rains. Fresh examination dates will be communicated once the weather situation improves and authorities determine that it is safe to conduct the examinations.
