MPSC Defers State Services Main Exam 2026; Check Revised Schedule and Latest Updates

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the State Services Main Examination 2026, which was scheduled to begin on October 3, 2026. The Commission has also deferred the Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026. Revised dates for all three examinations will be announced separately.

MPSC said the decision followed representations from students, parents, student organisations and elected representatives seeking postponement of the State Services Main Examination. The announcement comes amid concerns raised by aspirants about the examination system and evaluation process.

MPSC State Services Main Exam 2026 Postponed

The State Services Main Examination 2026 was scheduled to commence from October 3. MPSC has now deferred the examination and said a fresh schedule will be communicated separately.

The Commission has similarly postponed the Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026. Candidates preparing for these examinations should therefore rely on the next official MPSC schedule before making further examination plans.

MPSC State Services Main Exam 2025 Answer Sheets to Be Re-evaluated

MPSC has also decided to re-evaluate the answer sheets of the State Services Main Examination 2025 after receiving objections from candidates and student organisations regarding the evaluation process.

The Commission said the re-evaluation could extend the overall process for the 2025 examination. The decision is separate from the postponement of the 2026 examinations but has been announced in the same context of concerns surrounding the examination system.

MPSC Examination System Under Review

The Commission has referred to a high-level committee headed by senior bureaucrat V Radha, which is reviewing the state's examination system. According to MPSC, the committee has interacted with candidates and other stakeholders and examined practices followed elsewhere before preparing recommendations for an examination system.

Reports state that the committee received a large number of representations from aspirants, educators and other stakeholders as part of the review process.

Concerns Raised by MPSC Aspirants

The latest decisions follow protests by MPSC aspirants over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, including allegations concerning the Drug Inspector examination and the broader conduct of competitive tests. These allegations are subject to investigation and should not be treated as established findings.

Political reactions have also followed the announcement. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said his party had sought postponement of the examinations and called for action regarding the MPSC leadership. These are statements from a political representative and are distinct from the Commission's official decision.
