The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has announced a change in the examination schedule for the MHT-CET 2027. Both attempts of the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test will now be conducted after the Class 12 board examinations, according to the latest announcement by the State CET Cell, Mumbai.

Earlier, the two attempts were planned for December 2026 and April 2027. However, following feedback from parents, counsellors and educationists, the authorities have decided to schedule both attempts after the Maharashtra State Board Class 12 examinations.
As per the tentative plan, the first attempt is expected around March 2027 and the second around May 2027. The final examination schedule has not yet been announced. The two attempts are likely to be conducted at least four weeks apart, giving students additional time to prepare and improve their performance.

The decision to conduct both MHT-CET attempts after the Class 12 board examinations follows feedback received from parents, counsellors and educationists. The revised schedule is intended to help students concentrate on their board examinations before turning their attention to entrance test preparation.
The earlier proposal placed the first attempt in December 2026, potentially requiring students to prepare for the entrance examination alongside their Class 12 syllabus. By moving both attempts to the post-board examination period, the CET Cell aims to provide a more convenient preparation schedule.
Under the two-attempt system, candidates will have an opportunity to appear for MHT-CET twice. The better score obtained in the two attempts will be considered for admission, according to the announced policy.
This arrangement allows students to improve their performance in the second attempt if their first result does not meet their expectations. It also reduces the pressure associated with relying on a single examination performance.
Maharashtra introduced the two-attempt system for MHT-CET in November 2025 to bring the examination closer to the pattern followed by national-level entrance tests such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The system is intended to give candidates greater flexibility and another opportunity to secure a competitive score. As the decision was announced relatively late for the 2025-26 academic year, both attempts for that cycle were conducted in April and May.
For MHT-CET 2027, the authorities have now indicated a plan to conduct the two attempts after the Class 12 board examinations.
Candidates preparing for engineering, pharmacy and other relevant programmes through MHT-CET should continue studying the prescribed syllabus while prioritising their Class 12 board examinations.
Students should regularly visit the official Maharashtra State CET Cell website for the final timetable, registration dates, application instructions and other examination-related updates. Until the detailed notification is released, the expected March and May schedule should be treated as tentative.
