The date, eligibility, syllabus and paper pattern for the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHCET 2018) has been released by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). The online registration process for the same has been opened from today. The last date to apply for the exam is 25c March 2018. Interested candidates can apply through the official website.
The CET will be conducted on 10-5-18.
The syllabus will be based on the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) course. Approximately 20 per cent weightage will be given to class 11 syllabus while major focus will be on class 12 syllabus (80 per cent).
MHCET 2018 will be conducted in offline mode and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) will be asked. The test will have three papers - Paper I (mathematics), Paper II (physics and chemistry) and Paper III (biology which will include botany and zoology). All three papers will carry a weightage of 100 marks.
For Paper I, each question will carry two marks and in the rest two papers - Paper I and Paper II, one mark will be given for each right answer. Nearly 3.89 lakh candidates registered for the exam of which 3.76 appeared in 2017.

The exam is held for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses in the various colleges in the state.
