After scrapping Pre Medical Test (PMT), now Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), Bhopal, has decided to cancel the Pre-Engineering Test.
For the year 2014, MPPEB accepts JEE Main 2014 scores for Engineering courses admissions across the state.
JEE Main 2014 examination is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted for admissions to Engineering / Technical and Architecture courses all over the country.
Since 1980, MPPEB is conducting its Pre-Engineering Test for Engineering courses admissions.
The decision has been taken immediately after the government decided to scrap PMT.
According to the available sources, state government was under pressure from all quarters after the irregularities in PMT came to light and the investigating agencies found involvement of senior officials of the PEB including its former examination controller.
After the board's exam controller Pankaj Trivedi was made an accused by the special task force (STF), it was apparent that the government have no way out and will have to scrap the tests in future by the board.
Director of technical education, Arun Nahar said, "The entrance exams for all engineering colleges will be conducted through JEE from the next academic session."
"We will assess the advantages of admissions through JEE and take a call on whether to make it a regular process," he said.
