Numerous state governments are acting proactively in response to the extreme heatwave that is affecting many parts of India and reaching temperatures beyond 40 degrees Celsius. Many individuals are extending and modifying their summer vacations or school schedules in an attempt to lessen the effects of the extreme heat.

To protect educators and learners from the intense heat, preventative measures have been taken and modifications have been put into effect.
This early heatwave has been attributed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to the El Nino phenomenon, which can produce localized or widespread heatwave conditions across the nation. As a result, to better accommodate the weather, authorities are opting to either temporarily close schools, start summer vacations early, or modify school hours.
This is a list of states where to keep students safer, classes have been suspended, a holiday has been declared, or class times have been adjusted.
Bihar:
Academic activities, including those at pre-schools and Anganwadi centers, are prohibited for Class 10 students by the Patna District Administration from 10:30 am to 4 pm. Additionally, because of the extreme temperature, academic activities for Classes 11 and 12 are suspended from 11:30 am to 4 pm. The District Magistrate has requested that this direction be implemented from May 1 to May 8.

The Jharkhand Department of School Education and Literacy has declared that all schools up to Class 8 will be closed due to the intense weather. Sports and other outside activities, such as prayers, are also temporarily halted. However, teachers and other non-teaching employees are not covered by this shutdown.
