Kerala will not Provide Three-Year Degree Courses Commencing next year: Minister R Bindu

Only this year will three-year undergraduate courses be offered in the state. There will be just four-year programmes beginning next year. Higher Education Minister R. Bindu stated in Thiruvananthapuram that the course is designed so that students can choose whether or not to continue their studies in the fourth year. The curriculum for the four-year degree programme has already been developed and distributed to universities. Students will be able to depart the programme at the end of the third year and acquire a degree certificate under the new system. The fourth year will be mostly dedicated to internships and research. Students who finish the entire four-year programme will receive an honours degree, according to her.

Minister stated that a complete software called K-Reap (Kerala Resource For Education Administration and Planning) will be used to consolidate the academic and administrative operations of universities, colleges, and related institutions. With the implementation of K-Reap, students will be able to use the student portal to access all services provided by universities and institutions. K-Reap provides services such as student enrollment, course registration, progress tracking, assessments, examinations, results, credit transfers, and certificate distribution.

"The procedure is complete. The state higher education council manages the curricular framework, which was turned over to universities in April. "Universities must now take responsibility for developing curriculum-based curricula," the minister stated. It will completely alter the educational environment. Students will have more freedom to select minor and major courses based on their potential. They are free, and you can earn credits from other universities as well. Students will be more enthusiastic as a result of the flexibility.
