Kerala Budget: Introduction of New Pre-Matric Scholarship following Central Withdrawal

The Government of Kerala has taken significant steps in the education sector with a budget allocation of Rs 20 crore for the Maargadeepam pre-matric scholarship. This initiative is aimed at supporting students from Classes 1 to 8, filling the gap left by the central government's decision to limit the pre-matric scholarship to Classes 9 and 10. The move aligns with the Right to Education Act 2009, ensuring free and quality education for all children up to Class 8.
